FAQ’s About CACC Board Responsibilities

How often does the Board meet?

The board meets the second Thursday of the month, September through June. No meeting is scheduled in July and August. Occasionally the board will move to the first Thursday if there is a conflict.

Where does the Board meet?

Board meetings are at First Lutheran Church in Albany. First Lutheran provides space for the CACC office and the Emergency Homeless Overflow Shelter which is operated by CACC.

What is the financial commitment of a Board Member?

In the past there has not been a formal ask of board members. The Governance Committee, started in 2019 has been revising the bylaws, worked on board training, and put together a draft board manual. Below is what the Governance Committee proposes concerning commitments.

  • Participate in one of the CACC Committees, and/or find other ways of contributing time and talent to the CACC.
  • Contribute to financial health of the CACC.  This can be done in various ways (e.g., through direct financial contributions, participating in fund-raising, informing one’s own community/networks regarding the Council’s work.

There is not a specific financial ask and there is a lot of flexibility in how board members support CACC both with talent and financially.

What other opportunities are available besides being on the board?

There are many opportunities. We are always looking for good people to do the work of our committees. This includes finance, communications and development which are standing committees. We are working to rejuvenate all our committees.

What are the time requirements?

As a Board Member, six hours a month would make you a contributing member. Two hours for board meeting and four hours doing something else. Committee work would be less time. Many of the tasks within CACC can be done on an individual’s schedule.
